Costa Rica evokes visions of rain forest, a live volcano, coffee plantations, 26 national parks comprising 25% of the land mass, great rivers, beautiful waterfalls, and birds, plants, and animals unfamiliar to most people.
From the delta country along the coast to lush mountains that rise up to nearly 12,500 feet, there is a great variety to photograph and tempt your visual palette.
Part of this is due to the different climatic regions in Costa Rica — six of them, of which we'll see four.
You will see a good cross-section of these subjects so that you can concentrate both on the large landscape and the details that make Costa Rica such a popular destination. In fact, because there is so much to photograph in Costa Rica, we will change our hotel several times so that we can gain access to a greater variety of locations.
Some of the locations we visited in 2012 included Palo Verde National Park, the Tempisque River, Tenorio Volcano National Park, Monteverde (Tilarán Mountain Range), La Selva Biological Station, Sarapiquí River, Tortugero, etc. For 2013, we will make some minor modifications which will be updated here as we solidify our itinerary. Those who sign up will get a complete itinerary.
We will even have the new moon during our time in Costa Rica which may make for some good night photography celebrating the stars and Milky Way.
As always, we will
encourage you to seek your own vision and teach
you how elements of composition and the magic of light work in concert to make
wonderful photographs.
Costa Rica is a very eco-friendly country. For this reason, we are providing transportation and guides to minimize our environmental impact. The travel package, as indicated above, includes all hotels and transportation once we pick you up in San José at the hotel until we drop you off there at the end of the workshop.
Many people will want to stay after the workshop to do more exploring of this amazing country.
This is also a location that you may want to share with your spouse or significant
other. They are always welcome at our workshops and instantly become part
of our group.
We already have a number of sign-ups for this workshop that came in even before we had set our workshop costs, so if you are interested, best not to delay filling out an application and sending in your workshop and Travel Package deposits.
