Join our photography workshop in an amazing place, Death Valley National Park with its stark-but-beautiful landscape
Last year,
this was our
alumni
workshop.
Death Valley has attracted photographers for decades, and
with good reason. The patterns in the desert leading the eye off into the often-snow-capped mountains, magnificent skies,
numerous canyons, all with different personalities, historic mining sites, designs in the valley floors, and multi-hued rock layers are all great photographic fodder.
The colors in death Valley are also amazing. They range from whites, creams, and ochres to chocolate, russet, and black hues.
Then, there are those iconic salt flats that seem to go on forever. When you remember that objects on land are farther away than they appear, it lends great respect for the fortitude of early settlers who crossed this inhospitable place.
Billed by the National Park Service as "A Land of Extremes: Hottest, Driest, Lowest," it is a place like no other in our country.
In December, however, you won't have to worry about sizzling in the desert! You'll be able
to celebrate your passion for photography, hone your seeing and imaging skills,
and learn about the magic of light to make wonderful photographs.
Scouting Option:
For those who want more time with Margo and Arnie, we offer the opportunity to scout and shoot with them before most of our domestic workshops. We limit this to two people per day who ride in the car with the instructors. During these days while Arnie and Margo do their own photography and final scouting for the workshop, there is also lots of individual instruction and discussions about photography.
Lightroom Private Instruction:
Some of our participants prefer to come in a day ahead and get some added instruction in Lightroom.
Practical Details:
We start out with some technical information before heading out for our first afternoon of photography. Our workshops include the following:
Maximum 6-to-1 ratio students to instructors
Opening wine-and-pizza reception;
Primer booklet to help you get started;
Early-morning and late-afternoon shoots;
Mid-day downloading of your images and processing with the latest version
of Lightroom;
Lots of individual instruction in both the field and classroom;
Daily critiques, both individual and group;
Discussions on various aspects of photography, including digital workflow; and
Lots of fun and frivolity throughout!
If you have not already done so, be sure to check our FAQs for
questions you may have as well as for equipment and installed downloads you need
to bring to the workshop including, if necessary, the free, 30-day, trial versions
of Adobe and other imaging products.
You will also receive written instructions on the ins and outs of successfully and easily turning your favorite digital
images into beautiful prints straight out of the latest version of Lightroom using your own printer.
