We are excited to be running a photo workshop in the Golden Triangle of India in January of 2011, especially since there has been a lot of advance interest for this adventure.

India is undeniably a land of color as well as a land of backlit scenes, misty vistas in the early morning, and clear, stark deserts. It is a land of many people with a long history, as evidenced by the plethora of temples, palaces, tombs, and old forts. It is a photographer's dream come true.  We will even have the full moon rising during our time here!

Our hostess is an Indian who is an architect in the States and India.  She grew up in Delhi and has family and friends in all three areas we will be visiting.  This will give us special insights into the color and culture of this exotic and magnificent country that most people do not experience.

Some of the details:
  • We will start our workshop at noon on Sunday, January 16 and end Saturday evening, January 29 (two weeks);
  • We will be based in three areas:
    • Delhi, a city divided into Old and New;
    • Jaipur, known as the City of Victory; and
    • Agra, home to the Taj Mahal as well as other impressive sites;
  • We will see a variety of scenes (these are some of the items on our wish list):
    • City life, including the markets;
    • Desert and camels;
    • Elephants with bright tassels and blankets;
    • Life along the river;
    • Boat trip(s) for a different vantage point;
    • Temples and palaces (yes, including the Taj Mahal, but we will challenge you to make your photographs different), and old forts;
    • Country life; and
    • Interaction with our hostess's family and friends for an intimate view of life in India
  • Pricing will be all inclusive except for your airfare to and from Delhi (see details below):
  • Alcoholic beverages, laundry, and personal items are, of course, always the responsibility of the participants.
