We are excited to be running a photo workshop in the Golden Triangle
of India in January of 2011, especially since there has been a lot of advance
interest for this adventure.
India is undeniably a land of color as well as a land of backlit scenes, misty
vistas in the early morning, and clear, stark deserts. It is a land of many people
with a long history, as evidenced by the plethora of temples, palaces, tombs,
and old forts. It is a photographer's dream come true. We will even have
the full moon rising during our time here!
Our hostess is an Indian who is an architect in the States and India. She
grew up in Delhi and has family and friends in all three areas we will be visiting. This
will give us special insights into the color and culture of this exotic and magnificent
country that most people do not experience.
Some of the details:
We will start our workshop at noon on Sunday, January 16 and end Saturday
evening, January 29 (two weeks);
We will be based in three areas:
Delhi, a city divided into Old and New;
Jaipur, known as the City of Victory; and
Agra, home to the Taj Mahal as well as other impressive sites;
We will see a variety of scenes (these are some of the items on our wish
list):
City life, including the markets;
Desert and camels;
Elephants with bright tassels and blankets;
Life along the river;
Boat trip(s) for a different vantage point;
Temples and palaces (yes, including the Taj Mahal, but we will
challenge you to make your photographs different), and old forts;
Country life; and
Interaction with our hostess's family and friends for an intimate
view of life in India
Pricing will be all inclusive except for your airfare to and from Delhi
(see details below):
Alcoholic beverages, laundry, and personal items are, of course, always
the responsibility of the participants.
We start out with some technical information before heading out for our first afternoon of photography. Our workshops include the following:
Maximum 6-to-1 ratio students to instructors
Opening reception with wine and local fare;
Primer booklet to help you get started;
Daily shoots;
Lots of individual instruction in both the field and classroom;
Daily individual and group critiques;
Access to some special locations;
Imaging and processing with the latest version
of Lightroom (timing will vary depending upon our locations);
Discussions on various aspects of photography, including digital workflow;
Plenty of opportunities to sample the excellent local fare; and
Lots of fun and frivolity throughout!
If you have not already done so, be sure to check our FAQs for
questions you may have as well as equipment and installed downloads you need
to bring to the workshop including, if necessary, the free, 30-day, trial versions
of Adobe products.
You will also receive written instructions on the ins and outs of successfully and easily turning your favorite digital
images into beautiful prints straight out of the latest version of Lightroom using your own printer.
