Join our photography workshop in the stunning, White Mountains area of northern New Hampshire very near to the Maine border. People come
from all over the world to see the incomparable foliage of northern New England.
The riot of colors against the deep green conifers, along with quaint New England
villages, farms, and covered bridges, make great subject matter. We'll take in
little-known locations that are favorites of The Barefoot Contessa, a native
of this state.
Because of Margo's long-time, intimate knowledge of northern New England, we'll have some great locations all to ourselves, and you'll
be able to celebrate your passion for photography, hone your seeing and imaging
skills, and learn about the magic of light to make wonderful photographs.
We'll be based near Conway close to the scenic Kancamagus (KAN-kah-MAY-gus — many people mispronounce it and add a "g") Highway.
You'll discover covered bridges, a staple of this part of the country. Some are red, some weathered barn board, and all carry their own characteristics.
Northern New England is also a geological treasure trove.
For the initiated,
you will recognize many features that you have studied moraines, upheavals,
intrusions, even rare granite that is usually hidden deep in the core of a mountain.
For others, you will find that the varied landscape will be interesting subject
matter to photograph.
Scouting Option:
For those who want more time with Margo and Arnie, we offer the opportunity to scout and shoot with them before most of our domestic workshops. We limit this to two people per day who ride in the car with the instructors. During these days while Arnie and Margo do their own photography and final scouting for the workshop, there is also lots of individual instruction and discussions about photography.
Practical Details:
We start out with some technical information before heading out for our first afternoon of photography. Our workshops include the following:
Maximum 6-to-1 ratio students to instructors
Opening wine-and-pizza reception;
Primer booklet to help you get started;
Early-morning and late-afternoon shoots;
Mid-day downloading of your images and processing with the latest version
of Lightroom;
Lots of individual instruction in both the field and classroom;
Daily critiques, both individual and group;
Discussions on various aspects of photography, including digital workflow; and
Lots of fun and frivolity throughout!
If you have not already done so, be sure to check our FAQs for
questions you may have as well as for equipment and installed downloads you need
to bring to the workshop including, if necessary, the free, 30-day, trial versions
of Adobe and other imaging products.
You will also receive written instructions on the ins and outs of successfully and easily turning your favorite digital
images into beautiful prints straight out of the latest version of Lightroom using your own printer.
