PayPal Methods

We accept cash and credit card payments through PayPal. Please e-mail a copy of your completed Application pages, so we can coordinate it with your payment/acceptance.

Trip Insurance:
We highly recommend trip insurance that includes travel health insurance, especially for overseas trips. You will want to make sure that the company you select is a BBB Accreduted business with an A+ rating. Links for this are here.

Our travel agent, Sharon Erickson, is savvy and finds the best rates for you depending upon your needs. When you contact her, please mention Barefoot Contessa Photo Adventures.

We will be based at the lovely Cranmore Mountain Lodge with charming hosts Frederique (Freddie) and Thierry Procyk.

      Cranmore Mountain Lodge
      859 Kearsarge Road
      PO Box 1194
      North Conway, NH  03860
      800-356-3596
      603-356-2044
      TheLodge@North-Conway.com

Prices loosely range from $140-150/night + tax, depending of the choice of room or suite.

Do tell Freddie or Thierry that you are with Barefoot Contessa Photo Adventures.

IMPORTANT:
In cases such as this workshop location, the room rate actually includes our daily imaging room. Normally, that room incurs a hefty fee. So unless you are local, please join the rest of your fellow participants. Otherwise, expect to pay a surcharge of up to $75. This obviously will cost a lot more than a few dollars saved with Expedia or other booking sites. Besides, it is more fun and more practical for carpooling if we all stay in the same location.

If our inn is full, Freddie or Thierry can pass you along to the inn across the street where you will also need to tell Jessica or Bruce that you are with Barefoot Contessa Photo Adventures and are based across the street at Cranmore Mountain Lodge.

Hotels, B&Bs and inns fill up quickly, so we highly recommend making your reservations early if you are even considering joining us. At this time of year, hotels have no need to negotiate.

If you miss out on any of the above, try TripAdvisor for other choices. Take advantage of the long weekend to return to some of your favorite workshop locations or explore others.

Airport:
The nearest major Airport is Portland, ME (PWM, less than 1-1/2 hours away). Other possibilities are Manchester, NH (MHT, a little over 2 hours to the south) or Logan Airport in Boston, MA (BOS, about 2-3/4 hours away).

Travel Agent:
Navigating the maze of domestic or overseas flights can be daunting, totally frustrating, and time-consuming as we all search for the best fare. We have a travel agent that we can highly recommend —Sharon Erickson at www.Cheryl-CruisePlanners.com in West End, NC. She is an American Express Travel Representative, is well traveled, and is very savvy in so much more than just cruises. She has access to resources unavailable to us mere mortals and can often find fares that are below the ones on the Internet.

With domestic fares, she does need to charge a fee, usually around $35, but for many, it is well worth it. We have found we still save money, and tons of time! Call Sharon at at 877-693-4535 (East Coast) or e-mail her as noted above. Please tell her we sent you (no, we do not get any perks from this).

Please note that in cases where we negotiate special rates with our hotels, you must either book through our travel agent, or use our links and make your reservations yourself. This information is noted for each workshop under Accommodations above.

Flying with Photo Equipment
It is always good to check with your airline before traveling to make sure you are complying with their current rules. Alas, TSA no longer has guidelines and passes consumers along to their airline of choice. Be prepared to do some deep digging.

We NEVER check our camera gear; nor do we ever check our laptops. The airlines will not cover these, and even if they did, you would be up a creek without those items. Common sense dictates that you allow plenty of extra time should TSA ask you to empty your bag and sift through each item one by one.

You may also want to select your airline based on its willingness to work with photographers...

Remember, you may have to check your bag plane-side before boarding smaller aircraft. We have done this numerous times over the decades without any problems ... knock on wood!

If you are a member of a photo association, carry your membership card. It may help you, but that is not a guarantee.

Finally, too many people bring too much gear. The less you worry about your gear, the more you will see what is around you.

Because we stop in locations where the roads and streets may be narrow and parking minimal, we encourage, in fact insist on, car sharing. It is also friendlier to our environment.

If you are interested in sharing a rental car with others, let us know. We'll pool those who respond and get you in touch with one another to make your own plans.

We can't guarantee that there will be takers, so we also recommend that you rent a car, as you can always cancel later. That way, you won't find your car of choice no longer available.
