Join our photography workshop in the incomparable New Orleans. It is known variously as The Crescent City, The Big Easy, The City That Care Forgot, Nawlins. and of course, NOLA (New Orleans, Louisiana).
This is a longtime, multinational city with a wonderful mixture of French, Spanish, and Cajun (from a bastardization of "Acadian", those French peoples evicted from Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, many of whom eventually found themselves in Louisiana. Their influence is strongly represented in New Orleans through cuisine, language, and music.
And speaking of music, one cannot come to New Orleans and not experience the great music that abounds in this city. We have some favorite haunts that we'll show you, and you'll enjoy photographing these amazing musicians.
Of course, we cannot forget the food. Great cuisine abounds here, along with one of our favorite breakfast place where we tend to gather after our morning shoot.
There are other treasures and lesser-known delights that we will show you, including A Gallery that houses a wide range of classic and modern photography, one of the best such galleries in the country.
This is a photographer's paradise where one can intepret anything from the charming architecture to the musicians to the bizarre. Take your pick and ...
... Laissez les bon temps rouler!
For those who want more time with Margo and Arnie, we offer the opportunity to scout and shoot with them before most of our domestic workshops. We limit this to two people per day who ride in the car with the instructors. During these days while Arnie and Margo do their own photography and final scouting for the workshop, there is also lots of individual instruction and discussions about photography.
We start out with some technical information before heading out for our first afternoon of photography. Our workshops include the following:
Maximum 6-to-1 ratio students to instructors;
Primer booklet to help you get started;
Early-morning and late-afternoon shoots for domestic workshops;
Daily downloading of your images and processing (we use the latest version
Lots of individual instruction in both the field and classroom;
Daily critiques, both individual and group for domestic workshops and most overseas ones;
Discussions on various aspects of photography, including digital workflow; and
Lots of fun and frivolity throughout!
One critical note: if you are contemplating buying a new camera, please make sure you have a basic working knowledge of it BEFORE you come to one of our workshops. There are so many variations amongst camera brands, and even within each brand, far too many for us to know and thus be able to help you.
If you have not already done so, be sure to check our FAQs for
questions you may have as well as for equipment and installed downloads you need
to bring to the workshop including, if necessary, the free, 30-day, trial versions
of Adobe and other imaging products.
Rooms can go quickly, so best to not wait too long before signing up. Our special room rates are for participants only.
