rate a mere A or A-. Squaremouth.com,

those it lists. There are six plans. For
a lot more information and the name of our contact person, click
here. Meanwhile, suffice
it to say that our travel agent has used Travelex for years.
Accommodations: (Enable
pop-up windows for links to work.)
We recommend you fly into New Mexico on Saturday, since not many flights, if any, are going to enable you to make the roughly two-and-a-half-hour drive from Alburquerque to Taos
in time for our noon on Sunday.
We will have two bases to reduce driving time to our locations.
Taos:
For the first three nights (we recommend you come in a day early), September 15-17, and for those attending the Lightroom 4 workshop on September 15, you'll want to come in on the 14th. In either event, we recommend the following two B&Bs right next door to one another. Those who are only coming in for the Lightroom 4 workshop may want to stay for a few extra days and savor what the area has to offer.
Rooms will be held at the San Geronimo Lodge through July 31, but don't wait until the last minute to book. For a $10 discount off the room, let Charles or Pam know you are with Barefoot Contessa Photo Adventures. They will also be providing a lunch of soup, salad, bread, spread, and beverage for the Lightroom 4 workshop for $10 which includes tax. You may BYO, and they will provide openers, glasses, etc.
If you can't get a room at the San Geronimo Lodge, try next door at
Old Taos Guesthouse B&B
800-758-5448
575-758-5448
Let Tim or Leslie know you are with Barefoot Contessa Photo Adventures.
Do NOT rely on GPS to get you to the correct address on Witt Road. Please check out directions on their websites (links above).

To take advantage of our slightly discounted rates of:
$159 plus tax for a traditional room with Queen bed
$169 plus tax for a traditional room with King bed and
$179 plus tax for a traditional room with Queen or King bed and kiva fireplace
call (800) 734-9910 and ask for the BC Photo Adventures rate.

Airport:
The nearest major Airport is Albuquerque International Sunport (ABQ).
As noted above, we strongly suggest that you fly into New Mexico on Saturday, since not many flights, if any, are going to enable you to make the roughly two-and-a-half-hour drive from Alburquerque to Taos
in time for our noon start on Sunday.
For those who want help with reservations, we
highly recommend Paula Jaye at Largay Travel in Haverhill, MA. She
is delightful and savvy and has
been a travel agent for [many] years. She also has access to resources
unavailable to us mere mortals and can often find fares that are below the
ones on the Internet. With domestic fares, she does need to charge a fee, but for many, it is well worth it. Call Paula at 978-372-0226 on the east
coast or e-mail her. It
is not our custom to recommend outside travel resources, so this lets you
know how highly we regard Paula.
Please note that in cases where we negotiate special rates with our hotels, you must use our links and make your reservations yourself.
Flying with Photo Equipment:
It is always good to check with TSA and your airline before traveling by air. Currently,
TSA
regulations note:
"You may carry one (1) bag of photographic equipment in addition to one (1) carry-on
and one (1) personal item through the screening checkpoint. The additional
bag must conform to your air carrier's carry-on restrictions for size and weight. Please
confirm your air carrier's restrictions prior to arriving at the airport."
They do remind everyone that not all airlines will allow this, so you may want
to select your airline based on thier willingness to work with photographers...
"Air carriers may or may not allow
the additional carry-on item on their aircraft. Please check with your
air carrier prior to arriving at the airport."
If you are a member of a photo association, carry your membership card. It may help
you, but that is not a guarantee.
Always check back with the TSA
website for the latest updates!
Rental Cars:
Because we stop in locations where the roads and streets may be narrow and parking
minimal, we encourage car sharing. If you are interested in sharing a rental
car with others, let us know. We'll pool those who respond and get you in touch
with one another to make your own plans. We can't guarantee that there will be
takers, so we also recommend that you rent a car, as you can always cancel later.
That way, you won't find your car of choice no longer available.
PRIVACY POLICY: Barefoot Contessa Photo Adventures is respectful of your privacy and any information you give us, either through our interactive forms or via e-Mail. We are committed to ensuring the security and safety of this information. To that end, our policies are outlined in our Privacy Statement.
