Join us for a photo workshop not only in that grand lady of the south, Savannah, but in the Lowcountry that surrounds her.
Celebrated in the book and movie "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" and founded
in 1733, Savannah was laid out as a grid of squares, each surrounded by stately houses with inviting staircases, cascading plants, and beautiful flower boxes.
Now numbering over 20, each square lures you in for a visit amongst magnificent, ivy-covered shade
trees, wrought-iron fences, and meandering paths. There are glimpses of lush gardens through gates, and surprises everywhere ... if you look.
Nearby are marsh lands, ancient Live Oaks festooned in Spanish moss, a couple of forts, shrimp boats, old ruins,
historic cemeteries, quiet estuaries, and charming waterfront towns.
For anyone loving a slice of history
and the grace of the old South, you can't go wrong. You'll be able to
celebrate your passion for photography, seek your own vision, hone your seeing
and imaging skills, and learn about the magic of light to make wonderful photographs.
This year, we will have the full moon to enhance our landscapes if Mother Nature cooperates weather-wise!
Scouting Option:
For those who want more time with Margo and Arnie, we offer the opportunity to scout and shoot with them before most of our domestic workshops. We limit this to two people per day who ride in the car with the instructors. During these days while Arnie and Margo do their own photography and final scouting for the workshop, there is also lots of individual instruction and discussions about photography.
Practical Details:
We start out with some technical information before heading out for our first afternoon of photography. Our workshops include the following:
Maximum 6-to-1 ratio students to instructors
Opening wine-and-pizza reception;
Primer booklet to help you get started;
Early-morning and late-afternoon shoots;
Mid-day downloading of your images and processing with the latest version
of Lightroom;
Lots of individual instruction in both the field and classroom;
Daily critiques, both individual and group;
Discussions on various aspects of photography, including digital workflow; and
Lots of fun and frivolity throughout!
If you have not already done so, be sure to check our FAQs for
questions you may have as well as for equipment and installed downloads you need
to bring to the workshop including, if necessary, the free, 30-day, trial versions
of Adobe and other imaging products.
You will also receive written instructions on the ins and outs of successfully and easily turning your favorite digital
images into beautiful prints straight out of the latest version of Lightroom using your own printer.
