Join our photography workshop in one of the newest national parks, Joshua Tree, that was elevated from National Monument to National Park Status in 1994, and for good reason.

The park's nearly 800,000 acres have seen human habitation for at least 5,000 years. From the earliest-known Pinto Culture (some 4,000-8,000 years ago) to the ranchers, miners, and homesteaders of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, there is a wealth of archeological and historic sites protected by the park. And we have a terrific group of volunteers and the rangers who returned after the shut-down for the amazing work they did to clean up after the terrible vandalism. This park is a treasure and extremely eco-sensitive. We are fortunate to be able to run yet another photo workshop here.

We are excited to be returning to this amazing place where there is plenty to photograph, from the iconic park namesakes, the Joshua trees, to wonderful rock formations created by early volcanic and tectonic action and sculpted by erosion. This is a location where the light creates all sorts of surprises and patterns.

With luck — after all, we are in the high desert — we should be able to do some night skies in one of the locations we think is ideal for this.

We'll also see formations with such names as Skull Rock, Split Rock, and Jumbo Rocks, travel through extended high plains dotted with the signature trees and the infamous and unwelcomingly friendly Cholla Cactus.

When making your plans, it is critical that you plan on arriving for our first session on Sunday. Our newcomers should be ready to go at noon, while our seasoned alumni can wait until 1:15.

We tend to stay over the night that the workshop ends, and for those who want to join us, we usually go out shooting and dine one last evening together.

And for those who have asked us to do a workshop on the Salton Sea, we will be doing that before Joshua Tree, so check it out.

Meanwhile, be sure to carefully read our FAQs, as well as the various links in the box above. They should hopefully answer almost any question you might have.

Fees:  Standard $1,780 | Alumni $1,520 | Association $1,620 - w/ discount in combination with Salton Sea | Early-bird Special @ Association rate but by check (see parameters)

Travel insurance is highly recommended to ensure protection against any unforeseeable events.
We are a small company and cannot be held liable for those who choose not to buy trip insurance.  Sharon Erickson, our trusty travel agent, can help you with that. And, no, we do not get any credit for referring you to her, only a thank you!
