The area in and around the Big Sur was frequented by John Steinbeck and heavily featured in many of his books. It is stunning country, from the raging Pacific to steep cliffs to lovely state parks, tidal pools, and sea critters galore.

Fog can roll in, making for some stunning images and adding an eerie quality to the sounds in and around the ocean, including the barks of Sea Lions.

You may even see Sea Otters who have wrapped themselves up in kelp to keep themselves and their pups from drifting out to sea. Sometimes you can hear the rat-a-tat-tat of their chipping away at an Abalone or other shelled delacacy with a rock, using their tummies as their work tables.

Because of the relentless wind and sea spray along this coastline, you will often find some amazing skeletal trees wtih snaggly branches reaching out against a backdrop of the Pacific.

There is the famous Seventeen Mile Drive that has so many viewpoints it is nearly impossible to drive more than a few hundred yards before some other scene grabs you. We will savor that drive as well as several state parks worthy of exploring.

It is no wonder that this area has drawn artists for decades, and we will show you some of our favorite locations where you can really spread out and "seek your own vision, and create great photos!" while celebrating your passion for photography with fellow enthusiasts. Just don't meander off so far that we cannot find you, or pay attention to your watch for the meet-up time.

So join us and and note that we are offering a twofer discount to those who also come with us to either Along the Oregon Coast or Strangeness of the Salton Sea.

Meanwhile, be sure to carefully read our FAQs, as well as the various links in the box above. They should hopefully answer almost any question you might have.

Fees:  Standard $1,880 | Alumni $1,600 | Association $1,700 — w/ twofer discount in combination with Oregon or Salton Sea | Early-bird Special @ Association rate — both discounts only by check (see parameters)

Travel insurance is highly recommended to ensure protection against any unforeseeable events.
We are a small company and cannot be held liable for those who choose not to buy trip insurance.  Sharon Erickson, our trusty travel agent, can help you with that. And, no, we do not get any credit for referring you to her, only a thank you!
