Same Place — Different View, Spain ’10, Ridgeline

Unless I’m experiencing a total brain fade, I’m caught up with all the participant Same Place — Different View comparisons. They are fun to do, and from the comments we get, the participants get a kick out of them and seeing once again the work of their fellow students.

I thought I’d return to some images Arnie and I have made over the past year and do some more Same Place — Different View blogs with a few of our photographs in each blog.

Spain is a visual feast. It offers so much, from Barcelona and the northeast coast … to the lush Pyrenees … to the plains (The rain in Spain …) and beyond…

Same Place — Different View, Belize Students ’11

I really enjoy putting together these Same Place — Different View blogs. It always confirms what Arnie and I teach … seek your own vision. Just because the scene may be the same doesn’t mean that each person doesn’t approach it differently.

In southern Belize, it was yet another case in point.

Histograms & Bell Curves

Those who follow this blog or who have come to our workshops know that Arnie and I don’t think much of a “perfect” bell curve. We were in Bryce Canyon last fall, and some of our participants witnessed an instructor sending his students back over and over again until they came up with the perfect bell curve. Our group was appalled. So were we.

The painting here is a well-known one by Rembrandt called Aristotle with Bust of Homer. I can only imagine what the man from Bryce would think of …
