One Shot — Virgin Reflections

Anyone who has joined us on a workshop knows that if there is water, I am generally in it sooner or later. After all, I wasn’t given the moniker The Barefoot Contessa all those years ago for nothing!

True to form, I slipped out of my flip-flops and waded out, encouraging some of our group to join me and get a different perspective.

Where we were, the overhanging branches were a detriment, yet the scene was dramatic, or was going to be once the sun rose high enough to strike it.

Some of our group found places to get down really low — lying down even — to get a clear shot. I kept encouraging them to follow me into the river, but at first, there were no takers. OK, sure, that water was cool, but it was far from freezing.

One Shot — Night Stroll

In the evenings, one of our pleasures is to walk Corso Umberto I, the cobbled street that runs the length of the historic Medieval town center. We often stop to enjoy a glass of wine or two at one of the outdoor cafés. It is one of the things to do on a warm evening in Taormina. There are those who sit or strut by conspicuously, so they will be seen. Others, like us, just enjoy “watching the scene.”

One Shot — Into the Light

Last year, with all the snow and torrential spring rains, the cascades were fuller than I’ve ever seen them.

Spring was also later than usual, since it took so long for all the snow to go. That put the wildflowers behind schedule a bit, but they were there. You just had to look.

And look I did, so I could show participants little treasures in the fields and woods.
