Day 05- Final Morning and Critique
This was the last day of the workshop. We have had fun, and people have learned a lot. That makes Arnie and me happy.
For our last shoot, we returned to our location of our first evening in Bryce. We like to return to one location at the opposite end of the day to show our participants the different personalities a place has. I did another panorama, as I really enjoy making these and showing others how to create effective ones.
We were among the first to get there. After all, the light starts long before the sun rises or long after the sun sets. We were photographing away when hordes of tourists descended on us like locusts. Actually, they were mostly very respectful and polite, but they were there to see the sun rising over the distant hills. We were there to see the magnificent light, not the fire ball!
The way the light tips the tops of the hoodoos or reflects back into them selectively is amazing.
We were mesmerized, as neither Arnie nor I ever tire of this magical light.
No matter which way we looked, we found something that grabbed us.
For me, it was the panorama shown above, the patterns in the next photo, and finally, the solitary nature of this Hoodoo, standing tall, bathed in that magical light, begging to be photographed.
The light began to get too hot, so we dragged ourselves away from this awesome scenery to grab some breakfast before our final imaging. It was a good citique session, with everyone making honest-but-tactful, thoughtful comments. As in any workshops, not all the images were winners, but everyone got some great images. AFter all, it is not about quantity, rather quality.
People lingered, not wanting the workshop to end, but finally, the last people left, and Arnie and I packed up the car and headed off to Moab for our next workshop.
