Same Place – Different View

This week, for our Same Place – Different View, we draw from our Lighthouses of the Outer Banks participants’ work last fall. We will return yet again at the end of October.

For the first set of four images, we head to the Sound side of the Outer Banks. The skies here are often magnificent, and there are different vantage points that one can select.

Dave found some reflections and used a pier to set them off.

Nikki used grasses to set off her very different reflections.

Stan took a different approach and made his a graphic black and white.

Chuck used one of the piers above with different light and composition.

For the next Same Place – Different Views in this week’s blog, we’ll use three different pairs, starting with one of the lighthouses that has helped made this coastline so famous.

Nikki was attracted to the ground fog that gave an eerie feel to the scene.

Dave sought out a much less common vantage point to make his image stand apart from most done here.

Coastal grasses are very attractive and invite people to photograph them, but how to make them interesting …

Chuck used the early light on the rhythmic patterns of the grasses against the estuary to make his photograph.

Dave look in the other directions and shot into the light to create a simple image with the cattails and grasses backlit.

For the last pair, we head out at night. You will recognize the same scene, but how different they look!

Stan highlighted the waves as they rolled in to shore, providing a stark contract to the night skies.

Nikki chose to feature more of the beach and jetty, smoothing out the water for some reflections.

Again, all these images were made in a small area, but what a difference in their views. Check out more of these participants’ work.
